Types of Cookies
Why cookies? By definition, a web server has no memory. Cookies help fill this void by telling the server what it knows so that the user doesn't have to remember or start navigating the site all over again. For this to happen, a hosted website you are visiting, such as our Site, transfers a cookie file of the browser on your computer’s hard drive in order to enable the website to remember who you are and your preferences. This message exchange allows the server to use this information to present you with customized pages. So, for example, instead of seeing just a generic welcome page you might see a welcome page with your name on it.
Cookies serve different purposes: some are necessary to ensure optimal performance of the Platform (i.e., ‘session’ or ‘strictly necessary’ cookies), while others provide information about the Platform so that we may perform analytics or suggest additional features (i.e., ‘analytics’ or ‘tracking’ cookies).
First and foremost, as explained above, cookies help our Site and the eMotorWerks Products work better so that you can have a flawless experience – like logging in easily, and moving from page to page, or from device to device, and basically allowing you to easily pick up where they left off.
Other cookies collect information about how visitors use our Platform – for instance, which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don't collect information that identifies a visitor. All of the data that these cookies collect is aggregated and used to improve our Platform.
There are also cookies that collect information about your browsing habits in order to make advertising delivered to you more relevant to you and your interests. These are what we often call ‘tracking’ cookies. They are usually dropped by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited our Site (and others) and this information is shared with other organizations such as advertisers.
Lastly, you should also know that when you use our Site, your device or browser may be sent cookies from third parties, for example when using embedded content and social network links. It's important for you to know that we have no access to or control over cookies used by these companies or third-party websites. We suggest you check the third-party websites for more information about their cookies and how to manage them.
