Four months ago eMotorWerks, a San Carlos-based smart grid EV charging provider, launched a joint program with American Honda Motor Company to provide its JuiceNet smart grid software for Honda’s SmartCharge Beta program. Honda Fit owners living in Southern California can earn money while charging their electric vehicles.
The cloud-based software offers real-time demand flexibility by charging cars when electricity demand is low and renewable energy is redundant on the grid. By monitoring the the real-time and day-ahead markets eMotorWerks’ JuiceNet adjusts charging sessions to the most beneficial time based on the driver’s schedule parameters.
eMotorWerks is a member of the San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Network, funded by the California Energy Commission’s Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) program aimed at supporting research in clean energy sector.
