How California is bringing DER (Distributed Energy Resources) aggregation to wholesale markets

Representing an initial 22MW of aggregated demand, California's Demand Response Auction Mechanism (DRAM) kicked into gear in Q4 of 2015, allowing utilities to procure aggregated demand response for resource adequacy. For the first time in the state's history, third-party aggregators such as eMotorWerks are able to bid distributed energy resources (DERs) into the California ISO market, providing both wholesale day-ahead market and capacity participation.

 

JuiceNet enabled devices, such as eMotorWerks' JuiceBox charging stations, are now participating in the DRAM, bringing direct grid services revenues to eMotorWerks.   Full article here
